Why is there such fear and hesitance when it comes to approving potential foster parents when one has been under the treatment of a mental health professional for their entire life but is still an intelligent, functioning and contributing member of society.
Why is it not considered a safety risk when a diabetic or an obese parent who is an medication could pose a safety concern?
What is the real truth? It seems like headlines and the media are the ones who have the state by the b@ll@ and make the decesions for them.
STIGMA IS DISCRMINATION

I know many MANY foster parents who have been treated for depression, even bipolar, and have never had a problem fostering or even adopting. I am sorry if you have but I think that's a pretty broad statement. Also, you can read stories of obese foster parents even on this boardm, I'm sure, who have been allowed to foster then given trouble when it comes to adoption. Every place is different.
