...my mom called me into her room one day, looked at me and said "Katrina, you are adopted." At first I didn't believe her, I actually laughed and thought it was some kind of joke. But she kept saying it was true and I kept not believing her. Then she asked if I would believe my father if he told me. I said no because it wasn't true and then I started to cry. I guess at that point it kind of sunk in that it must be true.
After that I just remember crying uncontrollably for a long time and my mom trying to console me but it wasn't working. Then SHE started to cry because I was so upset and she called my aunt who lived upstairs and told her what happened. I just remember my mom crying in the phone saying "we just told Katrina she's adopted and she's taking it very, VERY bad." (it's weird how I remember certain things word for word lol). Then my aunt came down for a little bit and talked to me and I eventually calmed down.
Later on my mom told me a few things about my bmom like that she was young, wanted to be a doctor and she originally named me Patrice. I'm not sure why she decided to tell me at that point but I'm glad she did. Although sometimes it feels like my entire family was in on this huge secret my entire life that I never knew about.
Anyway, I'm 24 now and I recently found my bmom and I'm in the process of getting to know her and my little sister and brothers.

I am so glad that you found your bmom and bsiblings. That is good that your mother told you but I can see how that must have been a shock, at 10 I dont think the word ғadopted had the same meaning that it does as an adult. YouԒd think she could have maybe explained it some and then told you. Thanks for sharing your inspirational story!
