We are Canadian citizens living in the U.S. We are adopting two Russian girls ages 8 and 10. We cannot adopt through the U.S. because they require citizenship. We cannot adopt through Canada because they require us to be residents. Does anyone know how to help us??????????

I am sorry to say that after extensive research we have found no way to adopt international children while living in the U.S. If anyone finds out anything more please let us all know. Maybe we should all be writing someone in government to get things changed.

I saw the following in a similar thread regarding Canadians living in the US.
As of June 28th 2002, the new law is letting Canadians who are not living in Canada, adopt internationally. For more detalis call the Media Affairs for Immigration and citizenship at (416)954-7868.

Hi prescott,
Thank you for this piece of information but still can't tell me how to adopt in US as Canadians. We have already our first daughter adopted from China before we have been relocated for my job. We wish to adopt a second one.
