Searching for info on Birth Parents

You origional birth certificate should have your mother name on it...is that who you are searching for??

My birth certificate does have my mom's name on it.But how do I get her hospital records on my birth?She was also a ward of the State of Kansas.How can I get those? I want more information but not sure how to go about getting it.Any website's or info would be helpful.My half sister's were already a ward of the State when I was born.I recently sent a letter to their guardian through Kansas Social Services but the guardian doesn't want me my sister's nor me having any information about them.Is there anything I can do about this?

So are you trying to find your mother?? Did you look into laws about adoption in Kansas. I recently have found 3 siblings that were put up for adoption. They all went to different states....one went to Mass, the other Florida and one the to Michigan. Depending what state there are thing you may or may not be entitled to. The hospital told me the records of my siblings births were purged becaause they were over 20 years old but they ended up having them. I did have to get my mother signature to recieve them though!

Hi,My mother was 42 when she had me.My fathers name was withheld on birth cert.In my papers she named a father.He said he wasn't.He was in his 80's.I have his grandsons name.I have Facebooked him recently saying we might be related.But he is in his 60's not sure he checks it.Wanting medical info if he is related to me & pictures.My mom is 91 now.I did talk to a man that was her guardian when I was born.He said she's very difficult person.I do not want to meet her.She is 91.Not sure she's alive.I want pics & info on my mom & if this was my dad info & pics.I am 47 now.I do want info on my sisters & to see them.But their guardian won't let me.Not sure what I can do.

OK Lynn - so you DO have your biological mother's name, but you do not wish to contact her, is that correct? You just want medical information and some pictures? Adoption records are not sealed in Kansas; however, I don't believe you'll be able to have any access to your bio mother's medical or other records unless you receive her permission or the permission of one of her family members. You may very well have to go right to the source, if possible, for what you're looking for. If you find out the hospital where you were born, you should be able to access the medical records from your time of birth until you were released from the hospital. Because Kansas is not a closed-records state some identifying info may be included on those records when you receive them. Are your bio siblings all adults? As in, 18 or older? If so, you shouldn't need the consent of their guardian to contact them. If they are younger than 18, then there isn't much you can do if their adult guardian does not consent to you having contact with them.

My half sisters are in their early 60's.The guardian hasn't given much info.Except my youngest sister had a stroke in her 50's. I know the hospital so I will check on my & her records.I wonder if my mom was dead if State would give me her records.I don't know where she moved after my birth.Guardian said she moved away not long after.
