Long story short, we have a wonderful 5 year old daughter that we adopted from birth; she has never met her bmom; but we hope to get together someday soon as we have been staying in touch via a semi open adoption. Recently we have been selected by a teen couple to parent their unborn son who is due to be born in January. They live over an hour away and we have agreed to an open adoption with a couple visits a year; the first being during the period when baby comes home with us (as a leagal risk placement) prior to TPR. We feel comfortable with the couple and have met and talked several times now; Just looking for some advise or experiences from other adoptive parents on how to survive this type of visit.
Thanks all!

Hi Faith! Congratulations on your match!
I say just keep it "light". We had visits when our little guys were newborns, and there was alot of "uncertainty" and nervousness since we were all still getting to know each other. Just be yourself!
We have a great thread on here ( on the Communication Between Birth Parents and Adoptive Parents ) called the Open Adoption Support Thread (or something like that, lol). Check it out - there's a great group of moms (first and adoptive) and it's a great support system for those of us navigating through OA's.
Oh - and don't underestimate the impact that your 5 year old will have...Sometimes they add an air of relief and take the pressure off of everything...Instant mood lightener, haha.
