After serving in the Army I met a nanny from Denmark. We dated for about a year. We were both in our early 20s and our relationship did not end on a positive note.
I'm 39 today and married to a wonderful woman. Last year we started trying to have kids and at the same time I received a message from Denmark. She said at the time we broke up she was pregnant and had given our daughter up for adoption. She said she wanted to find me so if our daughter tried to contact her she would give my info as well.
I was floored. That would have not been my choice. We talked several times and all of a sudden she was gone again. I'm trying to conduct the search with what little info I have. She was born in 4-95 and according to Danish law I have no rights. I currently trying to register with Danish govt and explain circumstances to see if I can at least write a letter that they could forward to the adoptive parents. Looking at the forums its really sad to see so many fathers left out of the loop when their child is born.

Hi,
Possibly the best place to start is here:
Familiestyrelsen: Adoption
- the Ministry of Justice, Adoption Department.
And also here:
Adoptionsnævnet: Forside
- which is the Danish Adoption Board
You can, of course, write in English.
Good luck with it all!

Currently working with Statsforvaltningen. I hope to get a case worker soon. Everyone I have dealt with has been very helpful so I am hopeful. On a side note I started practicing my Danish.....Tusind tak for hjaelpen :denmark:
What part of Denmark?
I actually live in Sweden, not far from Helsingr and Copenhagen.
Maybe there's something I could help with. :-)
