I read about the scamming, so I'm purposely not giving all the information. Thought that I'd start 2011 out right posting this search for my birthmother. My parents that adopted me were the best teachers, extremely kind and loving. My father died several years ago and my mother talked to me just before a major surgery that took her life telling me about my adoption. I was born in Utah in 1977. Some of the requirements were that I had to be raised in an active prayerful Latter-Day Saint home and my name had to be William Arthur Carns Smith. My birth mother's last name was Royer and my birth father's name was G. Smith. My birth father and adoptive parents have the same last name, but there was no relation. He had served a LDS mission and his father had served as a Bishop. My Mother relayed information from conversations she had with both my birth mother and her mother. My birthfather asked my birthmother to marry him. She replied that she didn't feel the same and didn't accept his marriage proposal. Later that evening, he held her down and raped her. My adoptive mother said that "date rape" wasn't talked about back then or the girl wasn't helped emotionally. It was considered the girl's fault. My birth mother's mother (my grandma) said that my birth mother was severely hurt emotionally and suffered through a deep depression. She was afraid that a missionary she loved wouldn't accept and love her when he returned. She was completely devastated to give me up and was very worried about my adoption home. My adoptive mother consoled and reassured her that she would teach me the Gospel principles and always love me. I would like to only find my birthmother right now, not my birthfather. I'm not looking to mess anyone's life up, just would like to get in contact if she would, and would really like health/medical info, as well as heritage info. Please help me if you can.

Go through the LDSFS office to get your non-ID info. I am told it's possible, though I haven't heard of it actually happening, that in addition to the little bit of health and heritage info, there may be a note from your b-mother.
Make sure you put your information on the registry here, and download and send in the forms for the Soundex registry (google it).
Do NOT expect any particular help from the church on this, even giving you th non-ID info in a timely manner. As far as they are concerned, your b-mother has no role to play in your life, ever.
Good luck.

Hi, I am searching for a man born in 1977 that was adopted by an LDS family with the last name of Smith. His adoptie father was a Dr. I was his foster mother for the first year of his life while a custody battle between his birthmother, along with the adoptive Smith parents, against his birthfather took place. Could this be you?

Thank you for all the suggestions like the registry. Someone suggested that I check the search engines regularly inputting my name different ways which I've been doing. This person thought that my birth mother may have used her father or brother's name when giving me a name. I've searched for names like William A. Smith, William A. Carns, Bill Carns, Bill A. Carns, Arthur Smith, Arthur Carns, Arthur Royer, Bill Royer and William Royer. Some of these are very common names so there's a lot of people. I've tried including a nearby state with a name like Bill Royer in Utah or Bill Carns in Arizona or Nevada. My adoptive parents' last name is Smith like my birth father's last name, but my mother said there was no relation which I should verify myself. I was told to search for my birth father's name or his father and for any relation to my adoptive parents, because he may be related like a cousin or nephew. Someone suggested I subscribe to Ancestry.com which I did last week and try searching for my name different ways as well as my birth parents. I haven't found anything yet, but I'll be checking every week. Thanks again for the ideas and this wonderful site. :thanks:
