I researched and contacted the agency that I was adpoted from, I was able to find out alot of things I didn't know , My time of birth and my mothers age at birth , but I would like to find out her name , can anyone help me? please give me a lead on where to begin, The agency was Louise Wise.
What state were you born in and where was your adoption finalized in. Each state has different laws and without that info it is hard to tell you what options you have.
Kind regards,
Dickons

I was born In Richmond, NY ( Staten Island ) 1960, The BC that I have has the Count of Richmond stamped on it Finalized in The state of New York. I was able to get some Information through the Dept of Health. But nothing telling how to retrieve my Original BC
1. New York is not an open state so unless you petition the courts for good cause (medical) and win you will not get your original birth certificate.

2. The state does have a registry (see link above) but their match rate is low from what I have been told. Unless everything matches perfectly it is not a match...
in the 60's sometimes things were changed on our records,
*birth dates,
*hospital,
*twins to single birth
for mothers some were told we died or were the opposite sex
So sign up for the registry because you might have a match.
3. Apply for your non id from the state and if Louise Wise is still in business from there as well.
4. Search and post your search on the registry on this site (reunite tab above). When you search only search month/year and see if anything matches.
5. Sign up with ISRR.net
6. Google Unsealed Inititative New York and get active in supporting the drive to change the laws to open records for adult adoptees...
7. Post a message in the search angel subforum asking for help.
Kind regards,
Dickons
