Social Security # for my adopted son?

I know this is my second adoption, I don't remember how we did this last time.

We finalized in October...how do we get his SS#? Is this something we do? I don't remember doing it last time (2 years ago for his brother). Does cw do it?

I got it from DD's AW

editted to add: I had to ask (didn't know that until 3 months post finalization)

yup!! Take adoption certificate, amended bc and other ID (I showed medical ins. card). I couldn't get new numbers though. but al of their bios with other families, got new numbers!! go figure!!!

You should have gotten in from the adoption worker. We're not a tpr yet, but we have ours for tax reasons.

My son was adopted in 2007 and I never changed his name on his SS card. When I do taxes, I have to use his birth name.

So what do I do? Go to my local SS office with the adoption papers and other details to change his last name to mine?
