Question, has anyone had any success with DNA testing? A while back 60 minutes did a story on a woman who found relatives she didn't know she had by going through a DNA company.
Any success with this? Any companies better than others?

I had great success with DNA testing. As a male, I was able to identify my birth father's surname through a Y-DNA test. Then I used another DNA test to confirm a half sibling. Now there are tests that male and female adoptees can use to discover biological relatives from all branches of their familiy trees.
Some companies are better than others. See my web page on DNA Testing Labs.

Richard,
Thank you so much! With a first name and a picture, I really need something else to find my bio father.
Best,

As a female, you can't use a Y-DNA test. But you can take one of the two autosomal DNA tests that check more than a half million markers. Either one will lead you to biological cousins from any branch of your familiy.
One is Family Finder and the other is the 23andMe test. If you can afford it, test with both because you can't tell in advance which database will have the better matches for you.
