No experience. Just looked up:Cerebral softening - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaencephalomalacia - definition of encephalomalacia in the Medical dictionary - by the Free Online Medical Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.Yikes. I can handle emotional and psychological problems that other people faint at -- but not medical problems. Hats off to everyone who can.

My son has static encephalomalacia. The static part means his brain damage is not getting any worse, as you know the other part means that brain tissue is soft... for the most part soft = dead, sorry to be graphic, but it gives you a more accurate picture.Basically, the term means that that portion of their brain is not functional or minimally functional. What specific questions do you have? Also, the part of the brain affected is very important and will tell you the most about what issues you will face.My son has any and all symptoms of severe frontal lobe damage, his brain damage is much more extensive than just the frontal lobes, but they are the hardest hit portion of his brain.
