DH and I are considering adopting from the Marshall Islands. This would be our second adoption. Our first was from Guatemala. Can anyone give me any information on how their experience went? Timeline, etc.

We completed our adoption from the Marshall Islands the end of last year, coming home a week before Christmas. The program is very unique since it is an open adoption. We were able to meet with the birthmother and spend time with her. We are still in contact with her by sending her packages. She also has friends that are on FB that will relay messages to her.
The process is up to about 18 months now, since there are more people learning about the program. I think the agency currently has stopped accepting applications due to the amount of people that are in the program, but I am not sure.
The travel is lengthy. We were there for about 5 weeks. The Visa is processed in the Philippines, so it takes time to ship there, get processed and come back. But, it is warm. If you take advantage of the island and what it has to offer, it goes by quickly.
Feel free to PM me if you have additional questions about the agency or program. You can also go out to the RMIKids Yahoo group to get more information.
We adopted a boy from RMI, and he is a very handsom boy. We also have a two girls from Russia and one from Guatemala.
