Baby Evie is settling in great! She is a doll! How do I post pics? She fit into the family like a glove. Her first mommy is awesome. We haven't met yet but exchanged emails. She is a lovely person and I hope our relationship blossoms in positive ways.
Here is my next question. My daughter is CC/AA/PR. How do you go about teaching the traditions of each culture? What if there is no physical identifier that would make the child obviously associated with that culture? Right now our little bean is very light. I'm sure she will darken later but right now she is as pale as I am with blond hair (getting darker) and blue eyes. She looks like she could be our child! This is fine but I had prepared myself these few months for raising a trans-racial child (or full AA child)... It just doesn't look very obvious right now.
I know this is sounds so dumb but how do you know you know how to care for the skin and hair of a tri-racial child? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm a complete worry wart so of course even though dealing with these discussions is a long way off I like to prepare:)

She's awfully cute! Care for her skin and hair like her hair and skin type should be cared for. It doesn't matter which race made her that way. I am CC and frequently use black hair products on my dry, coarse curly hair. I am sure she will darken up substantially in the coming weeks. My DS (AA/CC) was lighter skinned than me until he started getting sun. Some say you can tell from their nail beds or the tops of their ears or their knuckles. But even that will not be reliable for a couple of weeks! Many, many, many congrats!!!

Our DD is CC/Hispanic/Moroccan. She darkened over the months, and her hair went from straight and fluffy, to very curly and somewhat coarse. BUT...you have plenty of time to see how she develops. For now bathe/shampoo/lotion her as you would any baby. You will start to notice areas that are different, but the difference might not be from the racial make-up, but just from genetics. Cam has developed very dry skin...is it because her first mom had skin issues, or because of her racial heritage? Or her first dad's racial heritage? We don't know, we've just rolled with it. And I come here to ask LOTS of questions...lol! :)
