We've been licensed a couple weeks and are wondering how long you waited for a placement or between placements. It would be helpful to know county as well.
We just have no idea what to expect. Everyone who we encountered while getting licensed indicated that our phone would be ringing off the hook and they only have open space for a number of hours. To expect that and then wait weeks is a surprise to us.
It took us 3 months to get our 1st placement. That was years ago. I know that new foster parents around us have gone a year and still haven't had their 1st placement. I know the wait is agonizing.

Are you with the County?
How many spots do you have open?
What ages are you willing to take.
I waited about 3 weeks the first time, but had a call almost right away.
I'm in Marion County so it is one of the larger areas.
We're with Marion too. We have 2 spots for ages 0-4.
We were with a private agency before and got placements very quickly. But we were also in a different state, that had a LOT of placements.
We are in Marshall County(up north), when we were licensed 2 years ago we waited 2-3 weeks for our placement. They moved & we waited almost 2 months for the next placement. They went home in Jan 2010 & we haven't had a placement since. Our last call was in June 2010.
Thanks for all your different perspectives. Right now looks like we just need to do life as usual and when we get the call we get the call.

We've always been with Marion. Way back when we first started, it took a couple of months to get our first placement. The shortest was a couple of days. The longest was 4 months and we had to find that one.
I went off hold, now waiting . . . we shall see, I asked for 3 and under since my guy is just 3. He keeps telling everyone "the baby is coming!"
I'm sure because I put a crib back up just in case, did it girly too! Crossing our fingers
I hear some counties have sent letters about keeping kids in home and appealing for foster homes to accept older and sibling groups when they haven't done so already.
Well I have 2 placements now. One came almost a month ago and the other I picked up yesterday. They are both under 2, so I am not having tons of time to be online.
I know they are trying to do more in home services when possible, and finding family, but in both of the cases I have this wasn't possible as of yet. So I am sure you'll be getting a call soon.
