I have a baby announcement to make and I thought maybe I would just start a thread and see if others would want to make announcements about new babies.
The new baby in my life is a grandchild. My second grandchild, and first grandson, Jayce D'Andre, was born yesterday, 10 March. He weighed 7 lbs 12 oz, just like his dad did! He is a beautiful biracial baby, even as cute as his cousin, Ashlyn, was! He has his dad's big, African feet, which we expected because one of the early ultrasounds got a very clear picture of the sole of one perfect little foot. I adopted his dad when he was 15 days old and nursed him for about two years. Jayce's mom is nursing him which, of course, I am very happy about!

Congratulations on your match! I can't wait to hear about your newbie - not too much longer!
We finally have our beautiful baby girl! Her name is Kylie Jean. (We combined the names of both mommies - Kyeisha & Natalie). She was born on March 16th. The birth was very special (both my husband and I were invited in during the delivery). I was able to help wipe her off and I got to cut the umbilical cord - but then they realized that she had quit breathing. It was scary but they worked on her and got her breathing. Unfortunately at this point, they discovered that she was born very sick. The amniotic fluid and placenta had gone bad and she had an infection. There were several other complications and she was in the NICU for 1 week. I was so happy about how quickly she improved. The doctors RAVED about how well she responded (I think it was partially due to lots of TLC and breastfeeding) It was a very intense week (i stayed at the hospital the entire time)- but we are home now and loving our time together!

:cheer: Congratulations!!! :cheer: so glad to hear she's doing better!
Congratulations! I love the name, and the way you came up with it is really special. It is also very special that you got to be with her during her difficult first week. Lots of nurturing, and breast milk, is extremely important in helping a sick newborn get healthy again. Two of mine had major problems, but I didn't get to be with them, for two weeks, in one case, and six months, in the other. They improved by leaps and bounds as soon as they got home, though. I would be willing to bet that, if Kylie had only had the hospital staff taking care of her, she would not have done anywhere near as well, so you have reason to be proud of your performance as her mother!
I crochet baby bibs that I give out as baby gifts. If you wouldn't mind if I send you one for Kylie, please email me at noelani54@hotmail.com
Give her a big kiss for all of us here on this board, and please keep in touch!

Oh Im so excited for you!!! And she is YOURS??? (TPR is signed)
I know what you are going through, without going into details, mine was in the NICU a week and i breastfed and was there as much as i could be and i really think it helped him recover quickly. Is the nursing going well? I think i got lucky, he caught on right away and never had any latch problems at all. I love the name, so pretty. Im so happy for you and i hope everything goes well. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, enjoy every moment with her. Best wishes, Rach

Yes she is ours. In our state we can sign after 24 hours and it is irreversible for the mother. Now we just have to wait 6 months to finalize everything.
With nursing - she is a fantastic breastfeeder. My favorite was the first time I fed her. She was not able to eat for 36 hours after birth due to complications and when they let me feed her - her eyes got huge and had this look of wonder. She was so content - it was awesome! She loves to suck - pretty much all the time. She hates pacifiers - which is convenient for building my milk supply. I use an SNS for all of the feedings and I let her suckle at the breast whenever she feels like it. I am not sure how much she is getting from me - but it has been so worth it!
I'm really happy for you that nursing is going so well! It brings back memories of nursing my babies, too. She sounds like my third baby, Thomas, with wanting to suck all the time. I used to say that, if I could just have him grafted onto my chest, he would suck twenty-three and a half hours a day. We were in Germany, then, and it was so handy that I could nurse him anywhere without having to worry about anyone being offended. We traveled so much during that time that he had been in nine countries by the time he was six months old. Do you like the SNS?
I hope you are getting some sleep!
