A couple years ago I was on this forum researching adoption from Colombia. At the time it didn't appear it was a good option for us so we changed directions and a year ago we brought home a baby girl from Ethiopia to join our Guatemalan princess. We have now decided to pursue one more adoption and have been looking at one agencies waiting child list. There are a couple children we are very interested in, but really weren't sure if Colombia would be an option for us. Last week we were told that the guidelines are less restrictive for families wanting to adopt a special needs child and today we moved one step closer when their waiting children's specialist emailed me to say she had reviewed our information and feels we will qualify to adopt one of these children. Although it's not yet a done deal, it is enough to make me want to start gathering some additional information, so I've come back to this forum.
My husband will be able to take a couple weeks off work to travel intially, but he will very likely need to return to work while I stay in country. We will be taking our two children with us and I'm curious to know how many here have traveled to Colombia with their other children in tow? Any advice or suggestions?
About how long have most been staying in country recently? When returning home, how much advance notice do you typically get? I would really like to have hubby fly back down to escort us all home if possible.
Thanks in advance.

For our second and third Colombian adoptions we brought our children back with us. It was wonderful to have them along and I highly recommend it! We also had grandparents join us for part of the second trip to give me a hand when my husband had to return home. We enjoyed every minute of the trip. At that time we had roughly a week's notice +/- of when we would be wrapping up our time in country. Time to get passports/visas and final doctor's visits and change plane tickets.
