Baby boy is here and healthy and we couldn't be happier. His first mom was induced early Wednesday morning. She had asked us to attend the delivery but after 15 hours of labor ended up needing a c-section. We were all very disappointed (she because her carefully laid plans weren't working out; we because the young lady we had grown to love was having surgery!) but she was so strong and insisted to the doctor that we still be the first people to hold him after his birth. They arranged for us to be in the next room over from the operating room and brought him to us immediately. He was a big and beautiful 8 pounds, 6 ounces and 20 inches long. The hospital gave DH and I a room so that we could room-in with him. With his first mom's permission, I began nursing him immediately. He latched on right away and has been nursing like a champ ever since. His first mom stayed in the room next to ours and we spent the next several days hanging out in each other's rooms, meeting family and passing the baby back and forth so that she and her family could have alone time with him. It was a very special time. After the papers were signed and we were discharged on Saturday, we had a short blessing ceremony in the hospital chapel and many of our family members attended. Both of our families expressed gratitude for having found each other and promised to always be in each other's hearts. There were many tears of joy and sadness and I will never forget it. Then we headed home to begin our life as a family of three. We're not sure when we will have contact from his first mom but he will always know what an amazing young woman she is and what a wonderful family he comes from.

Congratulations!! That is such a perfect story :) Enjoy your little man and good luck with your nursing relationship :)
COngratulations!!!!! Its sounds like you had a really good experience. I hope the nursing goes well for you guys. Good luck, Rach
It sounds like things went as perfectly as they could have (except for the poor birth mom being in labor so long and having a c-section). I hope you will be able to find a few minutes to keep us updated on how things are going for you. I learned to type pretty well one-handed while I was nursing.
Give that little guy an extra kiss for me!
