Ok so obviously before L I didn't really care about this, but when getting sing-a-long dvds (because that's the only thing I let her watch right now) as L is a total music lover, I've come to notice how sometimes some dvds have little um diversity.
What are your favorite sing-a-long dvds that you have purchased for your kids? do the kids they use represent a multitude of races and ethnicities? if they don't, has it bothered you? have you gone to look for some more?
My take is that if the music is good and entertaining, I don't care the make-up of the "band/singer" I'd just like a variety of kids to be featured in the songs.
My favorites so far which aren't many:
Laurie Berkner best of music dvd:
great use of a variety of kiddos....a hit in my house
Gospel songs dvd by cedermont kids:
ok any other genre of music by cedermont kids and almost all the kids are your typical caucasian kids, very little diversity with the kids they use....but the gospel music ones actually have a variety and different shades of brown with some cc kids here and there too, and L has some serious hallelujah dancing moves.
Any others you guys like?

I need to update the ones I have....LOL can we say VHS bwahahahahahahaha....thanks for the reminder though
Have you checked out the Kidsongs series? They're dated (late 80s, early 90s) but only $1 at Walmart and my kids LOVE them. There is some diversity in them overall.

Have you thought about just stringing stuff together on youtube? You can find really great songs, that even YOU will enjoy. Here are some of the videos that I used to put on for Liana when I put her in the high chair while I was cooking.
Sesame Street is a great place to start.

YouTube - Sesame Street: Celebrities Sing Alphabet Song
And here are some sweet music videos from Nick Jr.

YouTube - Papa Moco Jumbie (High Quality)
Yo Gabba Gabba

And sometimes, trapped in the high chair, Liana got subjected to some of my favorites.
History and civics lesson in this one.

Not a sing-a-long, and pretty grown up. But segments were filmed in my neighborhood, and I just love the song.

She's not going to understand the words or the images, (and they are scary) but this is a great dance song. And I'm in love with the kid in the red shirt. Watch him dancing at the end.

My taste probably isn't your taste, and I may have exposed Liana to some stuff that isn't typical toddler fair, but she really enjoyed all of these. And I really enjoyed some of them. So look for the artists that you like and the songs that you like, and find videos that you believe are appropriate for her.
Quesita look at you go! I would never have even thought to use youtube....he he he can you tell while I use technology, I'm like a novice or just not used to using everything available?
just FYI....not saying EVERYTHING has to be multi-cultural....we're into cartoons (computer....veggie tales...thanks Jen) just wanted to see what you guys enjoyed and was diversity a part of it. I like diversity anyways, I just started noticing stuff like this since my daughter is into music and dancing and grooving.
