Hi, I am a single woman in Philadelphia, and I am trying to find recommendations for domestic adoption agencies that work with single women (and have success). I went to an orientation of Open Arms Adoption Services and was concerned to learn they have never placed a baby with a single woman. I also went to a foster-to-adopt orientation but am not sure I am up for the heartache of going this route. Any recommendations would be welcomed.
Have you considered a private adoption? Like, as ad in the paper or something, especially in an area with local colleges...
See, I'm a pot. B-mom, and all I care about, if I choose adoption, is that my future child is well cared for. I don't care about single parent families or gay couples or whatever. In local papers, even the one at my university, their are ads from potential A-Parents offering loving homes...haven't seen one in a bit though and school's out, too, which pretty darn inconvenient as I find myself knocked- up and in hopes of a loving local family....

Jessica,
I agree with superirish. Independent adoption is a lot more prevalent than you'd think. That is what we are doing, to have more control and to be smart about our finances. Plus, you won't have to deal with social workers biased against adoption by a single woman.
