Hello Everyone.
My husband and I have begun looking for an agency and I've been making tons of phonecalls. I think I have spoken to all of the agencies that are in my state of NC. I know that some agencies are licensed in a few states or in all states and I'm having trouble finding that information. I've been calling agencies at random that are in nearby states but none are licensed in NC. The NC forums don't seem to be active so I'm trying here instead.
Can anyone help? Please?
We are looking for a gender-specific, domestic adoption.
I have spoken to 2 National agencies but unfortunately we can't afford their fees.
Thank-you in advance for any help. Feel free to PM me with any tips!
Tabitha

Okay.......give me a little more info. Our family has been adopting for many years. We've adopted in and out of state.....yet I seem to remember from friends that NC does have some specific laws that aren't common to other states, correct?
Does NC require that you have to go through an agency and NOT an attorney for a baby? (I'm thinking that may be one of the limits NC has?)....if not, I'd strongly suggest you try to contact a Quad A attorney out of NC who might be able to help you in finding your baby.

Also....if I can ask.....does NC only allow you to finalize in those states who's agencies are also licensed in NC? (Is this why being licensed for NC is the requirement you seek?) If not, I would be glad to send my own suggestion list to you---which, I agree, probably needs some updating, but it can at least get you started?
And, in finding other agencies/attorneys......wouldn't the NC agencies you talked with give some suggestions as to who/where you could go to do further networking to find your baby?
Guess I"m confused, because, as I wrote earlier, I'm not that 'up' on NC law. But, I'd be glad to help you in any way I can if I knew what NC requires of its adopting parents.
Please feel free to pm me if that's easier.
Most Sincerely,
Linny
