How very, very sad is this story? It is heartbreaking!

This is the 2nd death and 3rd very severe public incidence of child abuse in NJ in the last several weeks.
These poor babies.

I know Irelady - what the hell is going on with DYFS! Although nothing really surprizes me with them. We know s/o who has a 5 month old shaken baby from a couple of months ago and the first incident of abuse that was reported to DYFS wasn't even followed up on after the infant had been hospitalized.
They are dropping the ball BIG time. I mean they were concerned about the clothes that my FS was wearing b/c I didn't have the clothes on him that his neglectful grandmother had given him that stunk of smoke.
They really need to get with the program....

I'm sure a great number of children grow up happy and safe in apartments above grocery stores.
I started to read the article about them in last Sunday's Star Ledger and I can't read more than the first paragraph or two, it's too sad.

I think the meaning of the post was pointing out the irony that the children were starving to death when they lived on top of a grocery store, not that children can't have a happy life living above a store.
