I recently learned something I think all parents of schoolage kids should know. My 13 yr old son had a friend spend the night recently, and the two of them watched some harmless Netflix movies that night. I do not have a subscription to Netflix, but I learned people who do suscribe can use their code to watch movies from wherever they have internet access. So the friend gave my son the code, and now my son can choose whatever he wants to watch using that code. He has a Wii in his bedroom, and he has turned on movies through it after I thought he was sleeping. He knows he is not allowed to use the code and access Netflix as we are not paying for it, but he has snuck and done it anyway. Fortunately, now that I know about it, I can keep the Wii out of his room at night. But I don't know how to totally block any accessing netflix illegally if he chooses to get up in the middle of the night & watch in the living room, & I don't know I could tell if he's watching netflix anyway, if I just see him watching a random kid show. I have set my TV cable to block out anything over PG13, but with Netflix, he could view porn I suppose if he chooses. I think I need to contact Netflix tomorrow and see if they know how we can prevent our kids from illegally accessing their services using friend's codes.
