The lady from the agency my husband and I have been working with stopped by today to see how we were doing. She said she is going next week to visit the Aparents & my Lil Bit; she also said the Aparents are working on getting some pictures together for her to bring back to us. Yay! I'm excited!
She also said that they are ready whenever we are for visits (YAY!), but I explained to her that we wanted to give them some time to settle in with Lil Bit and get used to finally being able to be parents. She said that was nice & said that they both told her that they like to get up at night just to watch Lil Bit sleep.
Not having Lil Bit hurts, I wish it were us getting up to watch her sleep instead, but we know we did the right thing for her and we managed to find a wonderful couple who adore her and love her so much.
I'll try to keep this thread updated as communication/visits continue. If I don't, I'm sorry & I most likely updated my blog first lol
We received a letter and some pictures this past Thursday. Lil Bit is so beautiful and she's getting so big!
In the letter, they said she now weighs eight and a half pounds (she was 7lbs. 6oz. at birth) and she can lift her head 90 degrees when she's on her stomach. They also said that she smiles a lot and that their dog thinks he's Lil Bit's big brother. They've also renamed her, which is fine. I only wanted to name her so the hospital wouldn't put "Baby Girl" or "Bufa" (baby up for adoption - the lady at the agency told us she's seen some hospitals actually put that on bc's before) on her birth certificate.
As happy as I am about this, it also comes at a bad time: my best friend miscarried in Feb. at just 5 weeks and her due date is coming up in Sept. She and her husband are understandably having an extremely rough time right now, so I've tried to steer clear of any discussion of Lil Bit at present.

We had our first visit with DD & APs on September 18: DH's & my 1 year wedding anniversary.
DD is growing & getting even more beautiful. Her hair was dark when she was born, but now it's light brown. Her eyes have also lightened from dark blue to a grey-ish blue. She's very active and loves kicking her feet. If she thinks she isn't getting enough attention, she'll "cry" until someone either talks to her or picks her up.
We all met at a cafe with the agency rep (being this was the first visit, we weren't exactly sure what to expect so we asked the rep to be there, just in case things happened to get awkward). The visit went off without a hitch: APs brought a lovely anniversary card and a cookie cake for dessert. We brought a few items for DD: a cute pink dress I bought from where I work that went on clearance, a children's adaptation of The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (it's one of my favorite reads), and a glass angel I received as a gift at my Baptism in 2000.
I'm SO glad we all hit it off so well. They're such easy people to be around, which is awesome since they're very keen on us being involved in DD's life. Honestly, just getting to spend time with them & DD made this anniversary so special. And they told us that whenever we'd like another visit to just let them know and they'd fit it into their schedules.
I'm glad things are going so well and you are building such a nice relationship with your daughter's parents. I had to comment on this, though:
"Bufa" (baby up for adoption - the lady at the agency told us she's seen some hospitals actually put that on bc's before)
OMG, REALLY? I thought I have heard it all with regard to crazy things that hospitals do when dealing with a child being placed for adoption, but this one really floors me. I'd rather have Baby Boy on my son's BC than Bufa any day, but at least I got to name him, too.
We got a Christmas visit yesterday! She's getting so big and pretty. She's 5 mos. old now and is working on getting her first tooth as well as crawling and sitting up on her own. That way I don't end up writing a novel here haha
