Hi all, long time lurker here. I just watched the documentary Child of Rage on YouTube and for me it really seemed to reflect a lot of what you all have shared and discussed over the years concerning your work and parenting with children with RAD.
I was wondering if many of you have seen this? And what are your thoughts?
This past year I worked in the trauma unit of a mental hospital and I worked with many RAD adults (18+). It so hard to watch someone become so destructive because of abuse they had no control over :(
NOTE: the documentary is pretty graphic at parts, just wanted to give a heads up

I've seen parts of Child of Rage, but not the whole thing. I should, I know. My daughter was rage-filled, but not that bad. She came after me with a four-foot long, 1-inch around stick one time, and did lots of biting, kicking, hitting, and throwing, but, again, not as bad as Child of Rage.I agree that it's difficult to think about children or adults having to deal with the aftermath of what happened to them, even when it was in no way their fault. I often tell the children I work with about the line from Mary Chapin Carpenter's song that says something like, "We all have two lives. One is the life we're given and one is the life we choose." I remind children that even though it isn't their fault, they are still in charge of making choices about how to live the rest of their lives.Susan WardOlder Child Adoption Support
