Hello all, new guy here.

After 45 years of searching yesterday I got an e-mail from a Canada Adopt searcher.

After answering a few of her questions I was presented with the question.

"do you want to know your name?":rockband:

"do you want to know your mothers name?":clap:

I'm an alumni of Ideal Maternity and things have been hidden from me all my life.

I'm still shaking a day later.

Now it's sort of what do I do?

At my age (65) it's a pretty safe assumption my birth mom is dead. But once in a discussion with the Nova Scotia people a lady slipped and told me I have a sister 5 years older.

So I have a name McKinnon and sort of a location, Sydney Nova Scotia

I have read about the Ideal Maternity Home - the men who were finally able to shut them down and the ButterBox Babies.

Were you adopted to the states or did you stay in Canada?

Your mother could still be alive - never give up hope. Did they say where your mother was from originally?

Your sibling could still be alive - do you know their names, ages, etc?

Have you googled names or checked facebook?

Are they doing any other searching for you or are you on your own now? Ancestry.com is a great site - you can sign up for a free trial but will need to give credit card info so if you only want to do the free trial don't forget to cancel. I have a paid international subscription so if you ever need something looked up give me a shout.
