The inspector is coming, she said she'll come during the day when my husband's not here and I can just forge his name.
I tried calling my resource worker to talk about this...no response, no response, tried her supervisor...no response. Called operator today instead and oh, what a surprise! My worker and her supervisor have been moved to another office!
I spoke to my old worker and SHE IS OKAY WITH ME BEING ASKED TO FORGE MY HUSBAND'S NAME.
She may be able to get a worker here during the visit to help me deal with 5 kids/inspector here without my husband. I said that's my 2nd choice. My 1st choice is a different inspector, which she doesn't think she can do. She'll call me later after a meeting today and let me know.
I got the number for the Office of Licensing and the person to talk to if I need to.
What do you think I should do?
(btw, I have a lot of other issues with this inspector. She comes late, she stays a long long time, even through the family eating dinner, she checks things that are NOT on the list of requirements but on her own personal list, etc)
WOW!!! I can't really think of a better response than WOW!!!. Seriously???
I just had my home inspection and the inspector was very nice, respectful, and helpful. He is new for me. I guess I am lucky!!!
Good luck.

Just my opinion - the Office of Licensing has very strict time deadlines they have to follow. I tried to schedule my final inspection a few weeks out because I was getting some repair work done but the inspector couldn't wait so I said "okay" but some things haven't been fixed. He came and it went fine. He knew I had the repairs scheduled was fine with them being done afterwards.
I would try to accomodate her as much as you can....I felt like the final inspection was much "less strict" than previous ones (because they knew I had fixed stuff they asked me to)...
Also, you are not forging your husband's name if you have his authorization to sign for him (from your husband). There is a legal designation you can make in front of his signature to show you were signing on behalf of him if you want..... it's /s/ .....just a forward slash followed by an s followed by another forward slash...then sign his name (don't write yours next to his as signor or anything). If you are not comfortable doing that, just tell the inspector your husband won't authorize you to sign for him.
Remember - inspectors come out once a year for inspections, even if you get a different one now, you might get the original one next year.
Good luck!
Wish it was Debbie. It's not! I'm telling you, this lady is a piece of work, I've had her a few times before and she just...she doesn't even inspect the things she is supposed to inspect, it's kind of crazy. I've had other inspectors in the past, I wish I could get one of them again.

We had Gregory last year and Tom this year and I love them both. The forging name has me baffled though...but like someone said they have a strict timeline and hey, people have to work, so maybe that is just protocol. I would just go with it, I guess.

And don't get me wrong, I've signed my husband's name on things before...but since I already find this inspector to be a terrible one I thought I'd see if bringing this up would help me get another one.
Also, just the idea of a state worker asking me to sign my husband's name seems kind of wrong.
Well my old worker didn't call me back after the meeting yesterday.
Shocker.
