I wanted to share with the forum that we brought our toddler son home from Jamaica Aug 11, 2011.
I wanted to post this because i so badly wanted to see a Jamaica adoption success story while going through the process.
So in terms of time, we had a match in July 2010. It took us:
- 1 month for approval of our I-600A Nov- Dec 2010
- 6 months post match to get a court date to obtain a Jamaican adoption license, Jan 2011.
- 4 months post filing for approval of the I-600, Jan 2011- May 2011
- 2 months post approval of I-600 to get the embassy interview date, July 2011
-US embassy visa interview in Jamaica - August 4, 2011
Congratulations!! I'm so excited for you! My husband and I would like to adopt two little boys from Jamaica. Did you go through an adoption agency or was yours an independent adoption? We are trying to find a Missionary there who could refer children to us at a specific orphanage in Montego Bay. I have heard that unless you know what child you want to adopt the wait is pretty long. I would love to hear more of your story!
Thanks,
Valerie
