I used to be a regular visitor to the message boards when I adopted my awesome most amazing son 12 years ago. He is now about to graduate High School and go to college. He has been raised in a predominately white community with us and and his three siblings(our biological children). As an individual he is adjusted and while we experienced very small bumps in the road our life as been rewarding and wonderful. The other night I experienced one of those bumps (the small stupid things people say that are prejudice but they don't realize it). Through out the years I've refused to get into cars or places with confederate flags, or walked away from the table (loudly) when a joke is about to be told. I feel I will not tolerate anything that people wouldn't say to my son's parents if they were black. Any way I would like to put together anecdotes from parents like us that have experienced these stupid moments in a paper for school.
I know it might be rude for me to ask for these personal stories and I am willing to visit the site more often so that you can get to know me better. They can be anonymous or with your name, it is up to you. My email is sassy570@aol.com. I think people can learn from these . Individually they might not seem big but together they are huge. I have alot to offer and alot to learn. Thanks Denise
