We're very new to the adoption world and are looking at adopting from Africa, but it seems like every country we look at and feel like could be a good fit has some MAJOR hiccup.
We first looked at the Congo, but were told we don't qualify because we have three children. Then we looked at Ghana, but it seems like the programs are all so new that it's hard to get a reliable timeframe. Then we looked at Ethiopia, but now we've discovered that they're severely limiting the number of adoptions.
Can anyone suggest a country that mamybe we haven't considered yet? Thanks.
Lesotho? Uganda? I was looking into those two. I don't think I would be able to adopt from Lesotho because i'm British.

Once issues of corruption are addressed, it may still be worthwhile to try adopting from Ethiopia. Until the recent scandals, it was a stable program. And you will be much more comfortable, knowing that your child has not been bought, stolen, or acquired by misleading his/her birthmother, and that no one was intentionally falsifiying his/her situation in order to immigrate him/her to the U.S.

who did you talk to about DRC? its pretty easy to get the 3 child thing waived. We have 3 kids and are in adopting from DRC. Feel free to PM if looking for insight.
It's not that Ethiopia is limiting the number of adoptions, it is that one of the pieces of paperwork needed to pass court are taking a lot longer to be produced. It's not really affecting anything right now. I think the back log is only 4 weeks. But you didn't mention Uganda. Have you looked into it? There is also Burkina Faso and Burundi.
