We finalized our son's adoption one month ago today!
He qualified for Title IV-E subsidy, but when do the payments actually begin?
I've done a ton of searches and keep coming up blank. So I decided to ask those who've been there, done that. :-)
Ours took 5 months after adoption. They were back paid, but still, I was livid with the CW. I just wanted to be done dealing with DCS completely! I finally started calling on my own and found they didn't have the paperwork they needed from her, had requested from her . . .I went and signed a new one that day and had a deposit for all 5 months within a couple weeks.
Most people I have heard have it take a couple months, all depends on the CW get his/her act together. Seems like it could be weeks if the paperwork gets where it is supposed to be. Our CW loved us, and promised to push everything through quickly . . . ha ha ha. It took 9 months from TPR for her to turn the adoption packet in!

We have adopted five children from the foster care system, our subsidy payment came within 2 weeks of the final foster care reimbursement, if your adoption worker is doing her job well, there is no lag time. Our children are adopted from two different states and it was very prompt from both states.
With our three adoptions, there was no lag. For example, we adopted on Nov 2, and got the first adoption subsidy payment on Dec 4 (for the month of November).
I was just getting ready to post the same question. So, we don't have to turn anything in for the adoption subsidy?

Do you mean like the invoice for Per Diem? If so, no, it will come automatically on the first. Not the 10th or the 14th or the 24th either, on the first!

That's good to know.
A couple days ago, we got the court notice that Baby B's CHINS case has been officially closed and that he is no longer a ward of the state.
So with that, payments should start pretty soon, right?
Also, since we already get per diem payments electronically deposited, will the subsidy payments get paid like that too? We never got a new vendor form to fill out--- I'm assuming they will be using the same info. Is that right?

No and yes. The CHINS case closing releases his birthparents from having a CPS case. That did not depend on the CW, the Per Diem information does. With the Holidays thrown in the mix, I wouldn't expect yours to come Quick Quick, but If you do not have it after the first of February, start making calls. It won't come on a random day, just on the first. Yes, the previous information they have for your account follows through to your adoption subsidy.
We finalized on 12/8/11 and I got a notice on Thursday 1/12/12 that our Subsidy payment would be deposited on 1/17/12 and the amount include 24 days in December and 31 days for January.
I was shocked how quick it moved.

Same here! Our first subsidy payment is supposed to be in the bank on Tuesday! I didn't know what to expect or plan for, but this was awesome!
So...am I reading this correctly that subsidy payments are paid a month ahead? For instance, February's subsidy is actually paid February 1st? We adopted in December, and I show a large deposit in our pending activity today - I am sure it is our subsidy for December and January because it calculates correctly, however I wasn't expecting it until February, then February's in March like the foster per diems were...so I was a little confused until I read this and hoping I read it right.
Thanks!
I'm real new to this, but apparently they do pay for the month at the beginning of the month. Our subsidy payment was for 1 day in November, all of December and all of January. And we got it on 1/17.
So now, I'm eager to see if Feb's will be on track and be paid on the first.
