Has anybody done this style and if so can I see the pics?
A friend (mb80sgirl actually) posted this great website on fb with a youtube video and they look a lot like cornrows, but the technique looks very easy to me. I do twists all the time and love them but they do tend to look fuzzy fairly quickly. I am really excited about trying this out.
I will post pictures (if the twists come out looking nice!)
Here is a picture of Athena with regular twists... I am actually posting it because I think she looks like a future miss america in it. :)

Beautiful! :) I know you are friends on FB with me, and I have a few of flat rope twists styles of S on there. I LOVE flat rope twists on S. They are easier than cornrows to put in once you have your parts(which you have to do with cornrows too) and her hair tends not to fuzz up as much with them v. cornrows! She's in a veil style right now, but I need to get it back into something more protective with our crazy weather around here. I may redo her hair this weekend or early next week. If I do flat rope twists I'll post a new pic. I did them for her birthday flat rope twists on top into fingercoils around. :)

We do cornrows a lot. Right now she has in twists and is happy because they make noise when she shakes her head. I actually did her very front one as a flat rope twist, but I did not get it tight enough. It is a twist, but since you keep adding a little more hair to one of the pieces in the twist (like many braiding styles) it stays flat to the scalp.
I think it is funny that the twists look so easy. To me they take more time because I have done so much more braiding in my life. I am also directionally challenged - so I have to think more that I would like while I am doing the twists. But I love having new styles and I think I like the way twists look more than box braids.
Ocean - your baby looks so pretty!
Thanks for the input. K, I've seen some of the styles and I am going to look back here shortly, but I may have assumed they were cornrows. You do so many gorgeous styles on her and she always looks so beautiful! I am in awe. I definitely have been using protective styles lately too. I think your weather is somewhat similar to what we have here and so protective styles have been a must.
I just can't wait to try it out on baby Selena tomorrow.
Sissy my girls love to shake their beads when they have twists and box braids... it's sooo cute. I have a feeling twists are going to be easier for me than the rows because I am so used to doing inside french braids on my own hair that I have problems when I do rows (because it is opposite) and then with the child moving and everything I mess it up and have to keep starting over, and they don't have the patience for it. Your little one is adorable in some of the pics you've posted.
Marnie I need to look back at your pics too. N always looks so stunning in her hairstyles and cute clothes she wears.
I am excited to decide how to do the twists.. I think they will all be from one side to the other in the front and then the back will have a part demarcating it and the back ones will go all down. And I am going to use pink and white beads. I also like having the twists all go up to the top into a band of ponytails but I think I could easily mess that up so I'll wait on that. I love that my girls can do so many beautiful different styles and look gorgeous. :)

gorgeous. My friend came over so I could practice braiding and twisting her hair. I am very hair incompetent and am slowly getting my groove on.
also S's mom (my boyfriend's mom) just texted me yesterday and said she had some head mannequins she would let me have to practice on. I thought that was really nice and am excited to have a venue to practice on.
