Does anyone know what exactly happens when you move (as far as OOL is concerned)? We are only in the thinking stage right now and we'd only be moving one street over. We're starting to out-grow our current home and the place we're going to look it has a much bigger yard and an extra bedroom. I'm planning to call our RW first thing Monday morning, if we like what we see this weekend. Just wondering if anyone had any insight to offer while we're thinking...

Its not a big deal at all - especially if you are within the same county because then your resource worker wont have to change, etc. Its simply a matter of once you are in the new place arranging for a licensing inspection. If you pass the inspection, everything just continues as is - with the same expiration date for your existing license (3 years from issue date). As with everything else, you will have to do the appropriate change of addresses - so that your payments will come to the right place, etc. Thats it!!

Just a few words of advice - FIrst, make sure you think of ALL the sub-departments or affiliates of DYFS that might need to know your new address. DYFS changed things so we got the check at the right place right away... but OOL didn't have the right address initially, the court system (which sends the notices about the kids' hearings) didn't for months, all the agencies that work with our family weren't notified by DYFS. You have to do that yourself. But the move and re-inspection were no big deal. The inspector even let us get unpacked and settled in before she came over.
