I live in the Sacramento area and my husband and I are planning to adopt through foster care. Does anyone have any recommendations for a FFA in this area?
Thank you!

Unless you are looking for an older child or a special needs child, I would recommend you go straight through the county. I am with a FFA and have been licensed and waiting for over a year with no phone calls. I am in the process of switching over to the county at my social worker's suggestion. There just aren't alot of kids available for fost/adopt in Sacramento County right now and it seems that the few kids who are available are being placed directly with county families because it saves money.

I think this may not be totally true. We are working toward our third adoption in 2.5 years (see sig) from our FFA. Seems to depend on your criteria and availability to stay home or have a flexible work schedule though. I say thisit based on what we hear from others with our agency. If you want more info, you can PM me.
Hello, we are also looking to adopt through foster care but would prefer and older child (over 4 years). Right now we are still investigating whether to go through an agency or directly through Sac County. I'd love to hear of others experiences but am having a hard time finding forums for this area....
You will find this all over, but Sac county is busy as budget cuts have caused increases in case loads. If you want to adopt, not foster, I would choose an agency. Most people go through Sac county either hoping for a baby or to foster. If you are looking for legal risk or legally freed, I would say an agency is a better choice for you because they will complete an adoption homestudy up front and help you search (which could include other counties). I have friends who were just matched with a legally free sibling set (4 & 3 yrs old). We see child available pages on elementary school kids constantly. Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
