We are kinship foster/adopt parents for 10 months. Trial is in 3 weeks and our CW and GAL have been totally negative about whether TPR will be granted. The BM has not completed her services or maintained significant contact, the bf has not seen our fd since we've had her nor has he completed any services. Our fd is only 20 months and does not know them. We feel helpless and are afraid TPR WILL NOT BE GRANTED. Any suggestions or familiar cases.....

Thanks for asking...they did not TPR and we have PMC of our lil bear!!!! We were certainly misled by CPS and all involved as to how things would go. We were blinded on several occasions and I will never do this or recommend this to anyone again.
She said that they did not TPR :( I'm sorry to hear that. You can still adopt him eventually. You would have to petition the court yourself and eventually you'd probably would adopt him. Good luck!
At least you have PMC. You can persue it yourself and have a judge terminate and then adopt. Just glad you still ahve your lil Bear. I completely understand the being mislead and all that. The system makes me crazy.

Thanks for your replies/responses. We certainly plan to pursue TPR to adopt. We were told we had to wait at least a year so we will ride this year out and try to tolerate dealing with the bio parents and their visits.
Can I ask why you took guardianship? and why did the State not push for TPR? even if it took a little longer? At 20 months the child needs the permanency of an adoptive home. Its sounds to me like they were tired of footing the bill - we refused to take guardianship of our great nieces and they went for TPR - at the last hour they allowed the mother to surrender so she could keep the baby boy (different dad). We have him placed with us for the third time in 8 years - and we have told the State we do not want guardianship again and push for adoption. I would be hard to live with the fact that they could come back at any time and petition me for the child. Please keep detailed notes about their involvement and any support or lack thereof.
