Recently I've been wanting to start a family of my own and it makes me want to find my birth parents even more. Thru FB I've found my bparents last names.(Thru search angel).
I just really need to vent about my lack of rights and all the hoops I have to jump thru to get any kind of info. I was adopted thru Children's Home Society of Ca in Sacramento. I was born in Woodland, Ca. I contacted them a while ago and they sent me a packet. I need to send $100 just to get non-id info. Which, I can get the medical info for free but feel that will lead me virtually no where. WTH! And then to get my original birth certificate I have to file with Superior Court and have a compelling reason to give to the judge. Anyone been thru this and get a postive outcome?

Been there, done that, and bought the tee shirt Kandis! My adoption was private which made it a little different, I didn't have to send anyone any money but that doesn't make it less frustrating! I petitioned the court to get my records and gave a bunch of vague reasons about health and kids health, etc. I got a, one line letter, back from the court telling me that she had "ovarian cysts." That's when I got mad and that's when I got some results! I had found some family and wanted to know who my father was. The family suggested that perhaps it was my Mother's, Sister's, Husband! Be prepared that birth families are not happily ever after stories but then I digress. I wrote the Judge what I had heard, what I suspected and asked him if the Truth could be any worse than what we suspected. He granted my petition. Wallah! I got access to my original birth certificate and a copy of my records from the stinking office of Child Welfare in the sorry state of California. The hitch? Because you should know that there ALWAYS is a hitch! All the names were blacked out with a black marker. I got to read about myself in a play pen when the worker did the interview with my adoptive parents and I got to read the REAL reason my Mother gave me up for adoption. "I was afraid that my family would never accept her or me." Interesting since she had already had another child out of wedlock and kept him and the family did just fine. The Uncle thing may be true! So I send off for my original birth certificate and guess what? The court didn't send me the right Court Order. After 5 years I quit fighting and have moved on. I will say that I did find some answers and am at peace with everything but the sorry STATE of CALIFORNIA! I hope this helps
