I recently heard a really, really good talk on TEDglobal by a Nigerian woman who talked about how many times kids only hear one story about a certain race/culture, and how this can be so dangerous. She speaks about Nigeria and Africa in particular, but really the lessons can be transferred to any culture. I HIGHLY recommend this eye-opening talk to anyone- but especially families who are adopting a child from a culture other than their own.

One of, and probably my favorite TED talk of all time. It is really worth the time to listen to it. It applies to ALL adoptions not just transracial - yet it is not adoption related.
Cheers,
