Around 3 weeks ago I sent a letter off to Children's Home Society of Ca. It was a request for my non-id info and to see if they could waive the $100 fee. I got a letter from them today 7/5 stating they GRANTED my request for the fee waiver. I am so happy right now. Now just to wait the 5 months they say it might take to get this info.
So, if you write to CHS and explain your financial hardship they might waiver it. You never know until you ask.
I'm glad to hear they waived the fee for you -- that's great news! The Children's Home Society here in California is usually pretty easy to deal with in terms of search and reunion. I've known several adoptees who like you were able to get the hardship waiver. So it never hurts to ask!

Thanks Raven! I waited so long on getting my non-id because I didn't have the $$ to spare for a while. But, I hope letting people know the fee CAN be waived might help someone in their search.
