The TPR trial took place for our FS today. Our FS's lawyer said they had my De Facto application but the court had not sent copies to the parents. She said that she expected the judge to continue the de facto to another hearing because it would be contested. The state's attorney came to tell me the same thing after.
The judge did rule to terminate parental rights. He also then granted us De Facto (after asking the lawyer the difference between De Facto and Prospective Adoptive Parents). He then ruled that he is granting us Prospective Adoptive Parents too!! I was so excited. I thought after speaking to the two lawyers that he would wait on the De Facto.
Oh they also said he is an extremely attractive two year old child...that made me smile! Overall it was a VERY sad day though to see them loose their rights.
Has anyone in SD county been given the court minutes after being granted De Facto? I want access to everything I can get for my child. I know I probably wont get much though! It was extremely difficult for me to get my court records when I became an adult and I do not want him to have to struggle so hard to know what his story is.
Thank you for any replies.

As De Facto, you actually now have a right to and to request the court docs for the case...we had our atty request the info. If you don't have your own atty, you may need to ask the child's atty to request the docs for you.
Congrats! Sounds like you are closer to the end of the rollercoaster ride.
