We received all of our paperwork last week and next week we have our first interview at our home. We are very nervous, of course, but anxious to hear what specifically we need to change.
Today I went to the hardware store and purchased some basic baby proofing supplies, things we wouldn't have even thought of with our son. This weekend we'll be tying up the blind cords and making sure all the outlets have protectors. We are really hoping to nail this on the first run but I can't see that happening. Our garage is a workspace and there is only so much the hubby can put away.
So, I'll let everyone know what they say. We are in Kern County which is up north of Los Angles County. We have a five year old so I'm not sure if that helps at all. Ha ha

For anyone waiting for their first interview I thought I'd update. We had our interview yesterday and it went really well. The SW seemed to think we were on the ball. Our house meets most of the standards for safety with just two things to correct. We need to put a lock on our interior garage door to limit access and we need to mount our carbon monoxide detector somewhere. All in all we're excited to move forward. The next interviews will begin with more intense questioning about our backgrounds. I'll check back and let you know what I learn as I go. I know there are a lot of other new to the system people like us who might like to know what's coming.

Good luck! We had a little plan of correction too (garage) for licensing. The homestudy interviews were not as bad as I thought it was gonna get. I did break down and cry when discussing my late mother tho, but my HW was very accepting of that and had even told me that basically it will help me because I share the same loss with a child. ;) We have one more joint interview to go and our homestudy and license will be complete! Good luck with your appointments coming up.
