My husband and I are just starting out to get licenced in Camden County. We start Pride Training next week! I am wondering how long the process will really take-we had our 1st visit when they picked up our packet and a call 2 weeks ago saying we were going to be assigned a case worker, but that's been it. We did go get our fingerprints the day after our 1st vist. We got the letter last week confirming our Pride training as well. We haven't gotten a call from a case worker yet? Should I call the office or wait till Pride Training starts? I'm soo excited and just want this process to move quickly!!
Thanks!
Welcome! I'm not in Camden but I thought the licensing process was very fast. I went to an info session in late Oct., started PRIDE classes in Jan, had my inspection in early March and was licensed in mid-March. If you consider the holidays in the middle, it was a really quick process.
However, I do think there's some lag time between your license being issued and you being put into DYFS's computer. I didn't get my first phone call until late June and the phone hasn't stopped ringing since....
Good luck!

Hey there - just saw this - I am in Camden County and we took our classes last March & by the time everything was finished we were licensed in September & got our first placement in October. I think ours took a smidge longer because our worker was SSSLLLLOOOWWWWW. And gave us a RIDICULOUS list of things that we had to do to our house (which we did not have to do half of). Luckily he has moved on.
How are you liking the classes?
I just got a call yesterday from our newly assigned caseworker will be coming out on Friday! Super excited. We started class last weekend. It's interesting?! Most people in class are for kinship care and seems as though they are not really there for the right reasons. I think we were able to go over 3 pages in 6 hours because of all the talking about meaningless things. Hopefully this Saturday will be better.
HA! That sounds just like our class. Mostly kinship care, couple shady people & a teacher that was so easy to get off topic it was ridiculous. Congrats on the caseworker - if you have any questions about the things he/she tells you that you need to do to your house let me know - we have an old house that's in good shape and MAN the crazy things they wanted us to do (ex: take the lock off the outside of the door to our basement b/c we could lock someone down there - which we couldn't b/c there is a door to the outside in our basement. then another caseworker wanted to know why we DIDN'T have a lock on our basement door & it was crazy no too so we can keep kids away from the tools and stuff. Sigh)
