Me and my husband recently found out pretty much our only option for conceiving ourselves is ivf. We have made the decision to go the adoption route. Ive done so much research my head hurts! Im not really sure to begin and from what ive read we have 2 things going against us..Im only 21 and he is 27 and we are military. We live in virginia and i cant really find a clear answer as to wether or not i have to be 25. I guess i just need someone to talk to and also i just need some guidance. Thanks!

From the research I've done on Virginia law you don't have to be 25. Some agencies might have their own specifications though. That's if you choose to use an agency. You can always choose to do an independent adoption. Being military shouldn't effect the outcome of your home study. Social workers are there for you and want to see you adopt. The only considerations you might have to take into account are if you are stationed elsewhere while you are in the middle of the adoption process. Having a larger agency (like Bethany Christian Services) would allow you greater flexibility.I'm just starting out my adoption journey as well. Free free to send me PM if you have any other questions :-)Tia
