I am a 44 year old white male who was born on October 12, 1968, in what may or may not have been St. Luke's Hospital in New Hartford (Utica), NY.
In a previous post, I mentioned learning (through the NYS Dept. of Social Services' non-identifying adoption report) that my birth mother was 19-20 years old, a college student from New Jersey, staying with an Aunt in Herkimer County until I was born. She was of Irish/German descent, described as medium height with light brown hair, blue eyes, and a warm, pleasant smile. I'm also told she was in the drum corps in high school and her parents owned their own business.
I also learned that my birth father was 6'4" with blonde hair and blue eyes (me too), and his parents also owned their own business. My parents were a couple for several years before I was born but, with college and being so young, they couldn't afford to keep me, though my records show they intended to get married after college.
My adoption was handled through Herkimer County and I ended up with parents in Herkimer, NY, both of whom are still alive. I've contacted several search agencies but, the costs being what they are, I've had to put my search on hold for quite some time. I'm still looking, though, and I'd appreciate any help from anyone who might be in a similar situation. Thanks.
