We have a date: January 17th! Could someone please share how long an adoption hearing usually takes in Indiana? We're in the Lafayette area.

I'm sorry, I have no idea about the time-frame for Indiana, but woohoo! Congratulations!!! Adoption is so exciting, even when the child has already been a part of the family for a while. Our son was with us for over a year before we finalized last month and it is just AWESOME to know that he's REALLY our son!
I hope everything moves along smoothly and quickly for your family!

I finalized my adoption while living in Indiana last year. The finalization hearing took all of 10 min. The attorney asked some questions to confirm I was willing to care for the baby and provide a safe home and I said yes. The judge gave a very kind thank you speech and said she appreciated me being a good foster parent, and made it official!! She also closed the DCS case at the same time so I had no further court dates. We took pictures with the judge and my family who attended and that was it! My attorney even had a certified copy of the signed adoption decree ready for me before I left the court that morning. It was fast and such a huge relief! We celebrated with the family at a nice restaurant that day.
Congratulations!
