So, I talked with someone at my local Department of Family Service4s last week and got the material - after research I might make my age range lower, or at least be willing to accept younger kids, but that's for another thread.
Anyway, my plan has been to look into it and be ready but given my economic status to wait to actually adopt till a few thigns are certain financially. However, I've read on the4se boards that home studies need updated. So, is it wiser to wait at the homestudy part rather than have to do that all voer, but at least get my paperwork in and take the training? Or just to have the whole thing done all at once?
I'm in Ohio if that matters.
Edit: I wonder if this should have been in the Social Worker perspective. As is aid, it's a little confusing with all these different forums, though i am starting to get the hang of them a bit. It is good practice for actually going through the process, though :-)

Your home study has to be updated every year. So if you won't be ready to adopt within a year, then there is no need to do the home study because you will just be paying money again to update IMHO.
Also, if you think you may have to move during your this time of economic challenge, wait as well. Anytime you move - even if it is to the house/apt next door, your home study has to be update regardless of whether it has been a year or not. New home - new homestudy.
