Just wondering if there is anyone else starting to going through PRIDE training right now, soon, or just completed it even?
Just wondering what it's like since we have to wait. :\
Any advice or tips on it?
:thanks:
I did mine in July. It was pretty intense. I Learned a lot but there is a lot of role playing which is so not my thing. Also lots of reading. Mine was supposed to be three hours each day for nine days but we were usually done within two hours.

Hey!
I would LOVE to speak to you a little bit about it all, if you don't mind. What area of NJ are you in? I would LOVE to finally talk to another person going/has been through this process!!
I went through it but it was a few years ago. Happy to talk to you about it if you think it would help. I'm in Central Jersey.
Just finished training at the end of last month. It was intense and at times a lot to take in. We had speakers who were very helpful and were informed about programs I didn't even know existed. Class always went by so fast.
If you have any questions I'd be happy to try and answer them.
I would love to talk to all three of you!!
My husband and I are suppose to call within the next week or two to find out when we can take the next step, which sounds like training classes. We're not sure when the next training classes are scheduled, but we know we should have orientation within the next 6 weeks. That's what the DCP&P supervisor/manager told us.
It would be WONDERFUL to try to find out more, and get a better idea about what to expect, at least training wise anyways. We're pretty much clueless, and I'm a very much "Type A Planner" person, lol, so I would be thrilled with some details. ;]
ANYTHING you want to share about the process on here or through private message I'll take!!
Thanks So Much!!

I'm in Monmouth County. So i'm not sure if it's different for every section. I'm sure the workbook they give us is the same. When you see the book just remember deep breathing. It's a lot of information.
I am the same way and always research whatever I can because it helps me. I googled Pride Training and tried to find what I could which was only off of FASFA or the DCP&P websites. I really enjoyed the guest speakers. They had a guy from the office of licensing who went step by step on what they are looking for and inspecting. He was very kind and when I asked him if you "fail" the inspection. He said "failure is not an option you have come to far we work with you." I found that training calmed a lot of fears and a really great place to verbalize what you are feeling and see that you aren't alone in your fears.
Sorry I just kinda babbled on about that.
What section of New Jersey are you in?
We start are re-training next week. We've been foster parents since the late 80's,but were taking a break when a family members baby came into care so we have to re-do the PRIDE classes for about the 5th time in 10yrs.
The only thing we can learn at this point are new laws and/or changes which are always constant.
If I can be of any help I'm more than happy to.I'm in S Jersey.
We finished up our classes in March ( we are in Ct )
Our classes were so simple and basic , it really wasn't worth going for the most part . Of course there was only one other person besides my hubby & myself in the class. We went through things pretty fast .
We are currently waiting for placement for a pre-teen/ teen foster to adopt placement.
