Hi we've just started the process to adopt a SN child from China. DH is 55 so we know we're looking at a waiver down the road. I've gotten mixed responses from agencies concerning his age, even though i said we wanted to adopt an older child (4 to 7) with mild to mod correctible SN. I believe (i hope) i've narrowed it down to: Holt, CHSFS & WACAP. Please PM me with advice or recommendations. Also if you're in the "prime of your life" and have had luck with an agency please please PM that info too.
thx so very much!

Have no opinion of the agencies you mentioned..but wanted to wish you blessings on your journey to adopt. My DH and I, 40 and 43 have 2 teenage bio boys, 16 and 14 and I, myself am half adopted...raised by my birth Mom and adopted by her hubby at birth. DH and I began the adoption process, last year and are logged in an awaiting a referral hopefully any day now....and I can tell you what I do know...many people have spoken on waivers and have gotten them and if you are looking for a child that age..you have a really good shot. We are open to up to 4, but literally just turned down a referral of a girl aged 4 just 2 days ago..because we felt she wasn't a good fit for our family and she has a very minor special need. Most families I hear are hoping to adopt a child as young as possible so it increases your chances of finding a child sooner with the ages you are open too. Our agency constantly gets children that age on their website listings...as well as I am sure pretty much all other agencies do too as our agency is small!!!!
God Bless
