Hi Everyone!
My husband and I will be celebrating our first anniversary on St. Patrick's Day. We are just beginning the process of becoming foster/adoptive parents in Riverside County, California. He is 53 and has a 17 year old daughter from his first marriage that lives with her mother in Arizona. I am 48 and this is my first marriage and I have never had any children (although I have wanted them badly). Do you have any advice for us? We are planning to attend orientations for Riverside County Social Services, Koinonia Family Services, Aspiranet, and Kinship Center this month to see which route (public vs. private foster/adoptive agency) we want to pursue. We are flexible in terms of ages, genders, or ethnicitiesdefinitely would love a sibling group.
I currently work part-time in a library and am attending school to become a therapist. I previously worked in a Level 12 group home filled with adolescents who had been abused or neglected and were suffering from either substance abuse or mental illness. Even when the kids were misbehaving, throwing objects, cursing, or yellingŅI still loved and accepted them. They weren't badthey just had bad things done to them. My husband and I just want to love our future kids, help them grow, mentor them, and help them reunite with their family or become part of our family.
Thanks in advance!

Hello
My husband and I have just started the foster / adopt process in Riverside County. We attended orientation at the end of February. Although orientation was 5 hours long with one ten minute break it was very informative. Our start date for the classes is not until June so currently we are working on getting all of the paperwork completed and turned in along with scheduling interviews and homs studies. We are hoping that by the end of the classes everything will be completed and that we will be open for placements. We are looking for a sibling set of 2 (but will take 3 under certain circumstances) between the age of 0 - 8 .
Happy Anniversary!!

Hello,
My husband and I are in the process of foster/adopt thru Riverside County as well. We have gone to orientation, turned in the initial paperwork, had an interview and been fingerprinted. We are waiting for word back on when we will be scheduled for classes. All this waiting sure isn't fun, but I know it's a process. We would like a sibling group of either 2 or 3, ages 0-7, with the goal being adoption.
