I am hoping someone can help me out here or give me some direction.
We live in a metropolitan area with all sorts of resources. You would think it would be easy to find a Psychiatrist to do an evaluation on my daughter but it has been a nightmare. The Queen has Cigna as her primary insurance & Medicaid as a secondary.
I can't seem to find a doctor that takes Cigna. So, they\ doctor would be out of network. Cigna tells me that having Medicaid as a secondary would cover my daughter if I use a Medicaid doctor. Well, I have plenty of Medicaid doctors to choose from but the doctor's offices keep telling me it would still be out of network because of Cigna.
Obviously, I don't understand what is going on or am just not asking the right question or not telling them the right thing. Can anyone please shed some light.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I had a similar situation with dentists. I could find one that took my primary insurance, but not medicaid, and vice-versa. So, I went with an out of plan for primary insurance, but that was a medicaid provider. They billed my primary insurance their out of plan rate, and medicaid covered the rest.
So, I think if you can find one that will take medicaid, even if it is out of plan for your primary, then medicaid will still pick up the difference. Make sense?

Thank you icehockey. That is what I thought too but the major Children's Hospital in town won't see us for some reason yet they are Medicaid providers. We go to them for Ped, Gastro, & Urology. I have tried twice with them thinking I just got a hold of someone who doesn't understand billing at their place but got told the same thing again. That is why I am wondering what I could be missing.
