Hey demendenhall, i read your post and understand what you are wondering about.I am an old adoptee who has searched for 55 years. In attempting to answer the question as to why you were put up for adoption, only the birth mom knows. There are pieces of information in various records that lead you to believe some types of answers, but they may not be factual. The information found in some court records may lead you to believe a few aspects of why you were adopted, but there may not be any information in those records. Most court records deal only with the actial court proceedings. Very little if any personal information is enclosed in those records.I don't know of any way to get 100% accurate adoption information except through the b-mom.I wish you the best.
One possible reason might be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hVbokTpYeg
The first minute of the video are introductions to those present, to show how important this national apology is. Once it starts, it refers to both the mothers and the babies who were separated by adoption.
What happened in Australia happened globally, as did the thinking behind it.
I expect that in a decade or two, various adoption practices such as propspective adoptive parents being in the labour room during birth will be viewed, rightly, as a form of psychological coercion.
Anyway, what I am trying to say is that sometimes the context in which a child is born is overwhelming and can, in itself, be the reason. For those referred to in this video, it certainly was.
