Just curious how many of our adopted kiddos have been diagnosed with some form of attachment disorder . Both of mine have .
Katie-
bug was diagnosied with anxious attachment. I thougt we had worked on it enough to be free of it, but it crops up from time to time. It is nothing as severe as others has dealt with, but it is hard as a single parent to never be able to have time alone or do mom only activities.
I am hoping this summer to get out to quilt for 2 days with friends while my bug stays with a babysitter (older sister of one of his cub scout buddies). My fingers are crossed, but I am not holding my breath yet.

Our first was referred at a few days and home at 7months. She was anxiously attached initially, but fully attached now without difficulty.
Our second adoption was an older (4.5yrs at homecoming) waiting child from an orphanage after a 15 month process. He was a pretty severe RAD kid with a variety of other problems. We were forced to disrupt after 4yrs home-- for the safety of our younger children. Learned how naive we were and much through the process about "little" things like adopting out of birth order, early trauma, having a RAD kiddo with youngers in the home, etc...
We have anxious attachment. Lots of talk about what if we die, who will take care of me, fear of being downstairs alone, scary dreams.
My timeline is exactly the same as yours, Princess1976. I often wonder if we'd gotten my son a few months earlier, the anxiety wouldn't have set in. At 14 months old, it was a rough transition.
My daughter does. She was in an orphanage for 13 months, has a lot of issues, including cerebral palsy & visual impairment. I've been trying to get help for her for years and finally found a psychologist who believes me and is trying to help us. She has extreme tantrums.
I am adopted and I have been diagnosed with Reactive Attachment disorder. It seems as if it comes into the children who are adopted when they are just months old and haven't really gone through any type of neglect. That is the case for me.

My 4 were adopted from foster care. Not only were they not diagnosed, not one was diagnosed with trauma. And my youngest saw a “child professional”. They were all diagnosed with ADD and ODD. My youngest has anxiety and I had to beg another professional to prescribe anti-anxiety meds.
